ELIAS Application Submission

The State Treaty and the specimen decree stipulate that applications for program and system accreditation must be submitted to the Accreditation Council. Prior to this, an assessment must be carried out by an approved Agencies. The resulting accreditation report, consisting of a formal review report and peer review report, must be submitted with the application.

How does the application/application check work in ELIAS?

Time of application

For further information on the time of Application Submission, please also refer to the“FAQ: Time of Application Submission“. In the case of initial accreditation, reference should be made to the need for urgency. Please also note the meeting dates of the Accreditation Council, see here.

Grid for accreditation reports

According to § 24 para. 3 sentence 4 and § 24 para. 4 sentence 5 of the specimen decree, the test report and peer review report must be drawn up in a grid specified by the Accreditation Council.

There are four different types in total:

  • Type programme accreditation – individual procedure (PDF) (Word)
  • Type programme accreditation – bundle procedure (PDF) (Word)
  • Type of program accreditation – combined study programme (PDF) (Word)
  • Type system accreditation (PDF) (Word)

An Excel spreadsheet for recording the data together with explanations as of 07.07.2025 can be downloaded here.

The new grids (version 03 – 01.08.2025) are to be used for accreditation reports whose preparation begins on or after 01.08.2025. Requirements that do not come into force until 01.04.2026 due to transitional regulations do not have to be taken into account in the grids up to this date. It is not necessary to transfer accreditation reports that were started before 01.08.2025 to the new structure.
