ELIAS database

Interface to the Higher Education Compass: ELIAS has an interface to the Higher Education Compass, the largest database for study programs in Germany. This interface links information on degree programs between the two systems.

Database of accredited degree programmes and higher education institutions:

The results of all accreditations are published in the ELIAS public database in accordance with legal requirements.

Who enters the data?

  • In the case of program and system accreditation, as well as Alternative Procedures, the decisions of the Accreditation Council are entered into the database after the resolution has been passed.
  • The entries for the study programs at accredited universities are made by the respective universities themselves.

Why is a degree programme or university missing from the database?

There are several reasons why an entry may not be displayed:

  1. The degree programme or university is not yet accredited.
  2. The accreditation process has not yet been completed.
  3. The accreditation has expired and is therefore not displayed as a hit on the home page.
  4. The degree program is accredited, but the accredited university has not yet made an entry in the database.

Further information on searching the database can be found in the FAQ.

Interface to the Higher Education Compass

The data in the Higher Education Compass is maintained by the universities themselves. The ELIAS team then transfers the relevant changes to ELIAS and adds the appropriate links. This ensures that the latest accreditation information on the individual study programs is displayed in the Higher Education Compass.

It may happen that information on individual degree programs in the Higher Education Compass differs from that in ELIAS. Information on accredited degree programs may not be changed in ELIAS without further ado. If a change in the Higher Education Compass indicates that there may be a significant change to the degree program, the ELIAS team will inform the higher education institution about the necessary steps to apply for significant changes (see FAQs).

Interface to DEQAR

All program and system accreditations as well as accredited alternative procedures are automatically transferred from the database of accredited study programs and universities to DEQAR (Database of the European Quality Assurance Register).

DEQAR can be accessed via the following website: https://www.eqar.eu/qa-results/search/
