Notification regarding the dispatch of fee notices in 2020 dated 26.03.2020

Since January 2018, the German Accreditation Council Foundation has had new statutory tasks following the entry into force of the interstate study accreditation treaty. As a significant innovation, the German Accreditation Council, as the central decision-making body of the Foundation, has the task of deciding on the accreditation of study programmes (programme accreditation) and the accreditation of quality management systems (system accreditation). The implementation of so-called Alternative Procedures, which are intended to test new approaches to quality development, also requires the approval of the Accreditation Council. The work of the German Accreditation Council is financed jointly by the federal states and higher education institutions, as stipulated in the State Treaty on Accreditation.

The basic lump sum charged by the Foundation plays an important role here. It contributes to financing the working structures of the German Accreditation Council and, in particular, the database in the electronic application processing system ELIAS, which in future should provide more reliable information on accreditations than before.

The basic flat rate is graduated according to the size of the higher education institution and is charged annually by higher education institutions that have at least one accredited study programme. You can also find information on the delivery of notifications in FAQ 11.3 of the Accreditation Council.

Fee Regulations of the German Accreditation Council Foundation can be found here. It is also published in the Ministerial Gazette of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and was adopted by consensus by the Foundation Council of the German Accreditation Council, which is made up of Representatives of the states and the HRK.

Please direct any questions regarding the fee notice preferably by e-mail to the Head Office of the German Accreditation Council at akr(at)akreditierungsrat.de or by telephone on 0228 3383 060.
