Newsletter No. 5/23 – December 2023

Dear Mrs. ,

Today you are receiving the 25th Newsletter of the German Accreditation Council.

119. Meeting of the Accreditation Council
The Accreditation Council met on December 5/6, 2023 for its 119th meeting, which took place virtually, and decided on 233 applications. These concerned

227 programme accreditations, which comprised 503 study programmes, and
six system accreditations.
A thematic analysis on “Conditions in programme accreditation under the new law” shows that the imposition of conditions has developed from the rule to the exception. While 84
% of all accredited study programmes were still subject to conditions in a random sample from 2017/2018, this figure is now only 31% based on the data of around 4,050 study programmes accredited under the new law.
Further information can be found here. Innovations in nursing studies
The Nursing Studies Strengthening Act requires changes in primary qualifying nursing study programs. At its 119th meeting, the Accreditation Council therefore passed a resolution on how to deal with the notification of essential changes due to the Nursing Studies Strengthening Act.
