Newsletter No. 1/22 – January 2022
Dear Mrs. ,
Today you are receiving the 14th Newsletter of the German Accreditation Council.
111. Meeting of the Accreditation Council
On 29/30 November 2021, the Accreditation Council convened virtually for its 111th meeting.
The Accreditation Council decided on
118 applications for program accreditation, which comprised 211 study programmes, and
6 applications for system accreditation.
At its meeting, the Accreditation Council also accredited an alternative procedure for the first time. It approved the application of the Harz University of Applied Sciences with conditions. The third procedure line created in the State Treaty on Study Accreditation is thus finally established in the accreditation system.
Alternative procedures provide the higher education institutions with further design options in accreditation, while at the same time providing impetus for the further development of external quality assurance of study programmes and quality management systems.
Furthermore, the Accreditation Council decided to approve the Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN e.V.) on the basis of its registration in EQAR. The EQAR registration runs until 31 August 2026.
Further information can be found here. ESG evaluation
The 111th meeting was associated with the implementation of an ESG evaluation of the Accreditation Council Foundation by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) with the aim of renewed full membership of ENQA and listing in the European Agency Register EQAR.
The ESG evaluation also corresponds to the implementation of Article 15 of the State Treaty on the Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions.
The subject of the evaluation is the Accreditation Council Foundation both as an organization and in the context of its integration into the accreditation system, in which the federal states define the criteria for accreditation and the agencies carry out the assessment procedures.
You can find the self-evaluation report here.
