Dear Mrs. ,
Today you are receiving the 24th Newsletter of the German Accreditation Council.
118. Meeting of the Accreditation Council
The Accreditation Council met for its 118th meeting on 21/22 September 2023, which was once again held virtually. With a total of 286 applications dealt with, the Accreditation Council completed an extremely high workload.
In programme accreditation, the Accreditation Council decided on 274 applications; 636 study programmes were bundled in these applications.
With twelve applications to be dealt with, the number in system accreditation was also at a high level.

Accreditation Council in Dialogue: “Diversity of QM systems – What freedom do higher education institutions have?”
On the one hand, the specimen decree defines the central requirements for a functioning quality management system and, on the other hand, emphasizes that the concrete design of the QM systems is left to the individual higher education institutions depending on the respective circumstances. In the more than 50 successfully completed system accreditation procedures under the new law, it has been shown that the higher education institutions use the existing freedom to design their QM systems in a constructive manner. The variety of accredited systems is correspondingly large. However, it has also become clear at times that there is a certain amount of uncertainty as to how far the degrees of freedom extend in individual cases and which “red lines” result explicitly or implicitly from the specimen decree.
This is discussed with university representatives,
Agencies, Professional Practice, Students and the interested public to enter into a dialog is the goal of the event.
You can find the program here, as well as the possibility of the required registration. The event is free of charge and will take place online (via Zoom).
