Ph.D. Andreas Keller

Member of the Executive Board for Higher Education and Research of the Union for Education and Science

Dr. Andreas Keller (1965) has been a member of the GEW Executive Board since 2007 and is Head of Higher Education and Research.

After studying political science, law and sociology at the Philipps University of Marburg, he worked there as a research assistant until his doctorate in 1999. As a GEW member, he has been involved in trade union and university committees on a voluntary basis since 1990. From 2000 to 2002, he worked as a consultant for science, research and university policy for the PDS parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, then until 2004 as a consultant for studies, teaching and international exchange at the Charité Medical Faculty and from 2004 to 2006 as head of the office of the Charité Supervisory Board.

He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since 2015, the Board of Trustees of Humboldt University in Berlin since 2017 and the Supervisory Board of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) since 2019. In addition to numerous other positions, he has also been a member of the KMK and BMBF working group “Continuation of the Bologna Process” since 2007, Vice President of the European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) since 2012 and a member of the European Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG) since 2017.
